What year did that car tech hit the auto scene?

These days, we have Bluetooth, satellite radio, Wi-Fi, rear-vision cameras, and so much more that it is hard to keep up with the latest tech. Cars are evolving at an immense rate, providing not just more entertainment tech but also more safety tech. Due to these changing times, we’d like to take a look back in the past and remember the original tech that came first.

Power steering
Grip the steering wheel tightly and put your back into it. The easy turning steering wheel of today was not always so. Power steering wasn’t introduced until 1951 by Chrysler and it didn’t become standard until many decades later.

Anti-lock Brakes
Remember the pump the brakes videos from Driver’s Ed? With the new safety tech of today, that practice is becoming less and less needed. It all began with the creation of Anti-lock brakes. They started to show up on vehicles 1970s and then slowly became standard tech much later.

A/C
Remember rolling down windows and installing mini fans on the dash to keep you somewhat cool during a long drive through hot summer. Air conditioning in cars was not a thing until the 1950s and event then it took quite a while for it to become standard.

Power Windows and Locks
Power windows and locks became a thing in the 1960s on high-end cars and slowly became a new standard across all cars in the late 90s/early 2000s. However, for argument’s sake some base models today might still carry manual windows.
